Gryphon is an open-source desktop app for Windows and macOS that collects, organizes and finds visual references and design assets in the folders you already have. It catalogs media where it already lives, across any number of watched folders, without copying anything into a hidden library.

On top of that sit tags, collections and smart folders, rich search with colour search and AI search, previews for many formats, plugins, a local API and an MCP server. The AI can run on a local model that downloads only when you agree, or on a cloud provider of your choosing.

Version 1 is feature-complete and not yet released. I built it with SpecDevShip, and its spec, from the requirements to the walkthrough, is in the repository.
